“Erotic Ballet Collection Pt.1”
Ballet Blanche Series
The project is about pairing ballet down and taking it back to it’s fundamental sculptural form and what it is all about – the human body. The nudity of the ballerinas is superfluous as ‘nakedness’; the aim is not to be focused on the costume, even if it is skin tight, but on the body. To eliminate all edges, shapes and additions that are not the dancer, so that the viewer’s attention is focused solely on what the body itself is giving. The light is free to move uninterrupted over the form and the body depicts fully the emotion and drama of the pose.
“The whole figure should be expressing the essence of the posture from tip to toe and the dancers were asked to think about representing themselves ‘as’ the dance, to embody fully the feeling of fluid movement with every fibre. In essence to ‘be’ the pose.“

“A dramatic and directional lighting is used to accentuate the sculptural elements of the poses and to highlight the subtleties of the surface of the body and the movement of light across it; from soft tissue to tense muscle over angular bone and away over fingers, toes even eyes.”
